This year we’re hosting our second Crafty Christmas Fair shining the spotlight on local crafters!
That’s right, if you’re a local artist or crafter then we’re inviting you to host your own stall at our fair on the evening of November 23rd where the village and beyond will be in attendance looking to grab the perfect gift for their loved ones.
We’ll have a variety of professional and amateur crafters offering a wide array of goodies, including woodworkings, wines & spirits, and much much more!
Tables start at £10, are available for the entirety of the evening and best of all the profits are all yours!

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year…
That’s right, even though it’s only September, we’re thinking about the dreaded big C already…Christmas.
Everybody’s favourite time of the year is almost upon us, soon we’ll be decking the halls, singing carols and hosting delicious Christmas dinners.
With that in mind, we’re now taking Christmas bookings for the festive period and you can find our menu here. We’ll require a £5 deposit per head, and a pre order in advance to ensure we give you the best experience possible.

Our Heart Is Now Black
As you may have seen on our social media pages it has been a week of big decisions and it is with a heavy heart we are saying goodbye to our old friend Guinness.
But, as one door closes another opens and we are delighted to welcome the amazing Black Heart from Brewdog to The Star & Garter!
With Diageo now believing Guinness to be a “Super Premium Brand”, we have decided enough is enough. Pushing the price of a pint towards £7.50 is crazy but that’s what their arrogance is doing. Having been a lifelong Guinness drinker and kept an excellent pint wherever Jim has served it he is sorry to say “no more”. New abv laws don’t affect Guinness but yet they think it’s ok to increase their price, for a third time this year, and by another 14%? Hopefully other publicans will make a stand too for the sake of our customers throughout the country.
Our alternative as of this week is Brewdog’s Black Heart.
Another delicious, creamy beer this is one not to be scoffed at. so with that in mind, we looking forward to welcoming you with a pint of our new delicious 21st century stout!
Wednesday Is The New Friday!
No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you and we haven’t lost our minds – we believe Wednesday is the new Friday, and to celebrate we’re offering half-price takeaway pizza between 18:00 & 20:00 every Wednesday!

This Weekend, We’re Two!
This weekend we’re celebrating two years to the day since we reopened!
Over the past two years we’ve been overwhelmed with the huge support from everyone who has visited both from within the village of East Dean and from further away, with hotel guests coming from all around the world.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get to this point, with the uncertainty of reopening at the tail end of Covid we could never have imagined how well received the pub would be, with amazing reviews and awards we’re excited to see what the future holds!
So again, thank you all again and we look forward to celebrating many more birthdays!
We’re At West’s Wood Fair
Join us this Father’s Day weekend as we’re not only serving delicious roasts at the pub, but we’re also attending the famous West’s Wood Fair!
We’ll have a food truck at the fair and will be serving tasty classics such as Fish & Chips, Burgers, and Dirty Fries all weekend.
It’s a weekend not to be missed featuring some amazing events, competitions and local businesses there’s something for everyone!
Keep an eye out for our truck, be sure to come and say hi and also try some of fresh food.

Treat Dad This Father’s Day
Father’s Day isn’t far away and this year, the weather is looking good and we’re ready for a great day!
We’re extending our lunchtime hours, serving delicious roasts between 12:00 & 17:00, before music from the amazing Rachel Hawker playing a curated mix of fantastic songs.
We’re hoping the sun is shining and the garden will be full, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!
*Please also note that West’s Wood Fair is taking place this weekend, so traffic around East Dean will be heavier than usual*

As we welcome brighter, warmer days we also welcome our new seasonal menu.
Featuring an array of light bites, hearty mains and sweet treats all freshly prepared within our kitchen.
Whether you’re a meat eater, vegetarian or vegan we’re sure to have something for everyone. This, coupled with our new kitchen hours, means that we can provide great food for even longer!

Last year we hosted our inaugural inter-village tug-of-war and this year we’re going better. We’re hosting our own, organic, beer festival with more competitions, amazing music, and most importantly great beer.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
As we enter another year, we’re delighted to look back at what has been an amazing 12 months.
Our first full year of trading has been truly wonderful, and seeing all of you enjoy the pub again has brought smiles to our faces.
From welcoming old friends including the ITV race team & members of the Coolmore Stud racing stables to embracing the village with our pub quizzes and fantastic live music and we’ve loved every minute!
We’re looking at hosting some amazing events throughout 2023 including:
