As we enter another year, we’re delighted to look back at what has been an amazing 12 months.
Our first full year of trading has been truly wonderful, and seeing all of you enjoy the pub again has brought smiles to our faces.
From welcoming old friends including the ITV race team & members of the Coolmore Stud racing stables to embracing the village with our pub quizzes and fantastic live music and we’ve loved every minute!
We’re looking at hosting some amazing events throughout 2023 including:

- More live music
- Quirky quiz nights
- Delicious Fresh Pizza nights
- and more!
We can’t wait to unveil more as it happens, welcoming you all through our doors!

Come & Meet Santa!
We’re so excited to announce that for the second year running Santa has decided to visit us here at The Star and Garter!
Arriving at 17:30 on Thursday the 22nd, he will be sure to make a grand entrance with a few goodies for those who brave the cold to come and visit him.
He’ll be assessing how well behaved we’ve been and also whether or not we belong on the nice list this year (fingers crossed) and, most importantly, it also gives us a chance to tell Santa what’s on our list before the big day!
It’s sure to be an exciting afternoon full of awe and amazement (and almost certainly a few goodies) and we can’t wait to see you there!

We’re In It – The CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2023!
As 2022 draws to a close, we’re delighted to be looking forward to 2023 as we feature in the 50th edition of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the new year!
We’re over the moon to be featured in the UK’s best-selling guide to pubs, bars and clubs and join other amazing pubs from up and down the country.
A secret shopper from CAMRA came into the pub unbeknownst to the staff and were impressed with both the service from the front of house and the quality of beer on offer.
We’ve worked hard to curate a well-balanced selection of staple and guest beers, supporting those local to us and we’re looking forward to building on this and working towards similar accolades in the future.

Out With The Old
This week we’ve overhauled our main bar.
The original bronze T-Bar that pours our lagers and ciders has been replaced by beautiful, individual fonts that add a new shine to the pub, not only looking better, but also making it easier for staff to see their customers at eye level.
Aside from aesthetic changes, we’ve also changed our selection of lagers and ciders and we now welcome:
- Angelo Poretti – a fruity, hoppy lager hailing from Italy
- Estrella – an amber an golden light lager originating from Spain
- Somersby – a pleasantly sparkling and sweet cider from Denmark
We’re delighted to introduce these new drinks to your and are excited to welcome you into the pub and to hear your feedback on the updated range.

An Array of Guest Ales!
At The Star we don’t rest on our laurels, we know that to keep people happy we need to have more than just three great ales on throughout the year.
That’s why we work closely with many local breweries to ensure we have the best, most seasonal, ales on at any given time. These include:
- Harvey’s
- Gun
- Flower Pot
We love working with these brands, and we look forward to growing our network as we build up to our beer festival next year, so if you know any amazing, local breweries be sure to let us know!
Christmas at The Star!
Is it too early to say the C word?…
We don’t think so!
Our Christmas tables are flying, with weekends especially filling up with large parties.
Thanks to the cosy nature of the pub we can get the fire roaring whilst catering for everyone, from school teachers to woodworkers, we’ve done it all!
The menu is now finalised and with great prices for both 2 & 3 courses we’re sure to sell out, so be sure to pop in or give us a call to guarantee your table!
Oh…and we agree…it may be it might be a touch too early to begin celebrating, but who are we to kill the buzz?!
The Quiz is back!
As the nights draw in, the music slows slightly and the quiz nights return!
With the fire roaring, our quizmaster Tim, accompanied by some fantastic volunteers, will be throwing a wide array of questions at our teams with some fantastic prizes up for grabs for those winning competitors.
If you’re not sure you’ll win, then our raffle is for you! In aid of local charities we have a exception selection of life changing prizes, that are sure to benefit the recipients…honest…
When you tie in this with some delicious food prepared by our chefs, then you’re sure to have a fantastic evening!
The first quiz is the 23rd of October, with teams of up to 6 people at £10 a head, with half of this going to our selected charity for the month.
